Eureka began in Binghamton, N.Y., well before 1895, and at that time the facility was called Eureka Tent and Awning Company. The business started by making canvas products and designed covers for Conestoga wagons, American flags and camping tents in addition to horse blankets. In the 30’s and 40’s, they were manufacturing enough canvas tents to build tent cities. During WWII, Eureka was shipping tents all over the world. In the 50’s the company returned its concentration on awnings, manufacturing them for mobile homes.
Starting in the 60’s, Eureka designed a Draw-Tite tent that contained a freestanding frame. The tent was used in Nepal on a Himalayan Expedition. The company made history when their tents were used during an all American climb up Mt. Everest. Eureka tents are used for exploration and expeditions today.
