Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii

When I was in Hawaii the volcanoes weren’t active at Volcanoes National Park, so if you’re cheated out of lava-flow photo ops, what else can you take pictures of?

Ferns!

  1. Never been to Hawaii but it’s in my list! Great photo.

    • Emilie,

Thanks! Yes, Hawaii should be on everyone’s list. It’s one of those places you think you’ll like, but you get there and it’s simply amazing. The only island I have left is Kauai, which means I have an excuse to go back (ha).

  2. Honestly? I would rather see this kind of beauty than flowing lava!

  3. A good friend of mine just up and left for Hawaii. In fact, I didn’t know he had gone until I saw some fabulous photos on Facebook. So, now I’ve got a friend there and I sure am going to take advantage of that situation. Always great to know someone local, right? Hope to see volcanoes and ferns!

    • Manisha,

Lucky you! It’s always good to have a friend living in a gorgeous place. Do you know what island he moved to?

  4. Saw the lava flowing, in the day, from a govt mandated ‘safe’ distance, after a bit of a walk. Not that exciting. So, don’t feel bad, you didn’t miss much. If I ever have it to do again, I will spring for the dawn/dusk/night time heli and/or boat ride to watch it flowing into the sea. But check to make sure there is activity first! http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/activity/kilaueastatus.php/ Love the fern photo!

  5. Very nice site Deonne! I love your sense of humor. I look forward to seeing the world through your eyes~
