This will be a short post, but next time I’ll wrap up the Ireland trip with a meaty post and lots of pictures, centered on a place whose name still makes me giggle. Because I’m 12.
Today I wanted to share a few photos of two very old buildings, since I have no shortage of love for old buildings and no qualms inflicting that love on all of you.
The Cliffs of Moher are (justifiably) one of the top tourist attractions in Ireland, soaring over the Atlantic on the west side of the country.
Guess what? They not only have spectacular natural beauty, there’s a fine architectural specimen in O’Brien’s Tower:
Many of the old buildings we saw weren’t nearly in that kind of excellent shape, and in fact a fair amount of the “castles” were no more than stacks of crumbling rock, so unsafe you weren’t even allowed to get close.
But on the drive back to Dublin before we left, we made sure to pass through Casleigh on Suir to tour Ormond Castle (but alas, you can’t take photos inside):
Next up: My favorite place in Ireland. Stay tuned.

Awesome photos, Deonne! The green grass is so….GREEN!! Stunning! I love old buildings as well and even more so if they have a story to tell.
Kathy,
Thanks! Ireland is just that beautiful, and you can’t swing a cat without hitting fascinating old stuff. Not that I would ever do that.

I’d guess that “smallest window” is really a slit through which you aim your bow and arrow.
Deborah,
That’s my guess, too.

Oh my! The rugged coastal scenery and castles have me dreaming of going here someday. Ireland is one of the first countries I want to visit when I plan on going to Europe late next year.

Samuel,
Ireland is a must! I hope to go back some day, since there’s much I missed. Thanks for writing.
